TSC Announces Recruitment of 20,000 Teacher Interns for Junior Secondary Schools

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened applications for the recruitment of 20,000 teacher interns to support Junior Secondary Schools (JSS). Interested applicants are required to submit their applications through the official TSC portals—www.tsc.go.ke or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke—no later than midnight, November 4, 2024.

To qualify, candidates must be Kenyan citizens with at least a Diploma in Education. Additionally, they should have a minimum mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and C+ in two teaching subjects or their equivalent. Registration with the Teachers Service Commission is mandatory for all applicants. The program also encourages persons with disabilities to apply.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present their original academic and professional documents for verification. Successful interns will be assigned to Junior Secondary Schools either in their counties of residence or in regions with available vacancies.

The internship, which spans twelve months, involves teaching various subjects under the Junior School Curriculum. Although the position is unpaid, interns will receive a monthly stipend of KSh 20,000, subject to statutory deductions. At the end of the program, participants will be awarded certificates to acknowledge their experience and service.

TSC has also cautioned applicants to be vigilant against fraudsters who may pose as recruitment agents demanding payments. Candidates are advised to report any suspicious activities to the nearest TSC office or police station.
