President Ruto Attends COMESA Summit in Burundi, Seeks Strategic Alliances
President William Ruto has departed Kenya this morning to participate in the 23rd COMESA Summit for Heads of State and Government in Bujumbura, Burundi. State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed shared that President Ruto’s agenda will involve high-level discussions aimed at strengthening Kenya's ties with strategic partners across various areas of mutual interest.
Additionally, Ruto intends to advocate for Kenya’s bid to host the Tripartite Free Trade Area (TFTA) Secretariat, a body that brings together COMESA, the East African Community, and the Southern African Development Community. The President is also scheduled for side meetings with several African leaders to explore further collaborations.
President Ruto will also use this platform to gather support for Kenya's nominee for the position of African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson.
