Deputy President Gachagua Urges Peace Amid Impeachment Proceedings

During a funeral service held in Limuru, Kiambu County, Gachagua affirmed that his performance in office stands as proof of his commitment to serving kenyans. He mentioned that if he were to leave his position as Deputy President, he hopes the current government will sustain the initiatives he launched. Gachagua, recently impeached, encouraged his followers to maintain peace as the nation awaits the court's decision on his removal.

Expressing optimism that the judiciary will reverse Parliament's vote for his impeachment, Gachagua conveyed his readiness to accept the verdict, regardless of the outcome. He highlighted his strong support in the Mt. Kenya region and argued that the absence of protests following his impeachment shouldn't be seen as a lack of popularity. According to Gachagua, his supporters prefer peace and will continue to maintain it, though he noted that, at the appropriate time, they would express their views on the matter. He also claimed that several Mt. Kenya MPs who backed his impeachment have lost favor among their voters.
