Political Rift in Kenya: DP Gachagua’s Allies Warn President Ruto Amid Division Rumors

On Friday, Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua attended an agricultural show in Nyeri Town, located at the base of Mt. Kenya. He was accompanied by his political allies, including Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Embakasi Central MP Mejja Donk. During the event, the MPs issued strong warnings to President William Ruto, cautioning about potential consequences if Gachagua is sidelined within the government.

The legislators claimed that there is a deliberate effort to divide the region. They questioned why a faction of MPs within the ruling Kenya Kwanza government continues to oppose Gachagua, despite his willingness to accommodate the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) into the administration.

Gachagua’s supporters also took aim at National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah, accusing him of spearheading the move to marginalize Gachagua.

Methu defended Gachagua's recent efforts, highlighting his call for improved infrastructure and his crackdown on illicit brews.  Methu suggested that Gachagua’s detractors are attacking him because they fear his questions and initiatives.

The DP's allies emphasized that Gachagua was democratically elected by the people, unlike appointed officials in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)-led government. They maintained that only the electorate has the authority to remove him
