KMPDU Secretary-General Criticizes Government for Salary Delays and Threatens Nationwide Protests
Davji Atellah, the Secretary-General of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU), has voiced strong criticism against the Kenyan government in a press briefing held in Nairobi. Atellah denounced the government's consistent delays in salary payments and its failure to keep previous commitments. The union has issued a 14-day deadline for the government to address these issues, warning that failure to comply will lead to nationwide demonstrations.
Despite earlier assurances to improve healthcare workers' salaries, many continue to face financial difficulties. Atellah has also called for the immediate provision of medical insurance for all healthcare staff, labeling the government's inaction in this area as "severe negligence."
He has pledged to rally health professionals across the country, including doctors, nurses, clinical officers, and laboratory technicians, to join in the planned protests if their grievances are not addressed promptly.
