Kenyan Employers Urged to Prioritize Workplace Mental Health, Says Health CS

During the World Mental Health Day event, Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa emphasized the importance of mental health in the workplace, urging Kenyan employers to focus on the well-being of their employees. She highlighted how workplaces significantly influence the mental health of the broader population.

Barasa revealed that around 3.7 million Kenyan workers are affected by mental health challenges, stressing the need for workplaces to transform from stress-inducing environments into spaces that foster mental well-being. She also pointed out that poor mental health can result in economic setbacks.The Health CS called on employers to adopt comprehensive mental health programs aimed at building supportive work environments.
