Kalonzo and Wamalwa Deny Bribery Allegations in Gachagua Impeachment Case

Azimio coalition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa have denied accusations of receiving large sums of money from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to prevent his impeachment. Addressing the allegations on Thursday, Wamalwa, the former Defence Cabinet Secretary, dismissed the claims as false, stating that no funds were transferred to their accounts in connection with the matter.

The accusations surfaced following a social media post by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, suggesting that the two Azimio leaders had profited from Gachagua’s impeachment proceedings. Kalonzo Musyoka has also faced scrutiny over his opposition to the impeachment process, with the Wiper Party leader repeatedly accusing President William Ruto of engineering the removal of Gachagua from office.

In addition to the bribery allegations, Kalonzo denied reports that he had been offered the deputy president position by Ruto, emphasizing that the claims were fabricated.
