Somali Community in Eastleigh Demands Justice for Family After Tragic Murders
Businesses in Eastleigh, Nairobi, were disrupted for several hours on Thursday morning as residents held peaceful protests following the tragic and unexplained killings of three women—a mother and her two daughters. Demonstrators blocked key roads leading to and from Eastleigh, demanding justice for Waris Daud, her 25-year-old daughter Amina Abdirashid, and her 12-year-old niece Nuseiba Dahir.
Yusuf Hassan, the local Member of Parliament, led the protest, calling for thorough investigations to bring those responsible to justice. Eastleigh, which is home to a significant Somali community, rallied together in solidarity with the victims’ family.
The three women’s bodies were discovered on Monday, October 21, in separate locations, raising suspicions of a coordinated murder. Waris Daud’s body was found in Machakos, Amina’s remains were located in Bahati, and Nuseiba’s body was recovered in Parklands, kilometers away. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched an inquiry into the killings, with crucial evidence emerging from CCTV footage that captured the trio’s final movements before their disappearance.
