Former DP Rigathi Gachagua Alleges Assassination Attempts, Summoned by DCI
On Sunday, October 20, Rigathi Gachagua, in a televised press conference shortly after being discharged from Karen Hospital, claimed that operatives from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) had plotted his assassination.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned the ousted Deputy President to provide more details regarding his allegations that President William Ruto’s administration attempted to have him assassinated.
Given the gravity of the accusations, the DCI expressed concern, emphasizing that such remarks from a former Deputy President cannot be dismissed lightly. Gachagua is required to appear at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, Nairobi, on October 22 to address the matter. The detectives assured the public that the issue would be treated with the utmost seriousness.
Gachagua detailed two alleged poisoning attempts. The first, according to him, occurred on August 30 in Kisumu, where security agents reportedly entered his hotel room and tampered with his food. The second attempt, he claimed, targeted a meal intended for him and a group of Kikuyu elders, with NIS officials allegedly involved.
The former Deputy President stressed that these incidents highlight a broader conspiracy against him, drawing significant public interest as Kenyans await further developments on these serious claims.
