Kenyans are calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Daadab Member of Parliament Farah Maalim following the emergence of a disturbing video where he made inflammatory remarks targeting young Kenyan protesters.

In a viral video whose date of recording remains unspecified, Maalim is heard speaking in the Somali language, suggesting that as President of Kenya, he would have ordered the daily "slaughter" of 5,000 young demonstrators.

The video, whose translation has been verified, captures Maalim criticizing Kenyan youths for their participation in the recent anti-finance Bill 2024 protests, particularly condemning their attempt to march towards State House. He alleged that these protesters, predominantly from affluent backgrounds, were intentionally deployed to Nairobi to sow chaos.

"This was nothing short of an attempted coup," Maalim asserted in the video. "Children of wealthy business owners, born into privilege, 80% from a specific ethnic group, were dropped off in downtown Nairobi with orders to riot and take control of State House and Parliament buildings."

Maalim's stark declaration in the video that he would have ordered their mass execution drew widespread condemnation. During a subsequent interview with KTN News, Maalim attempted to dismiss the video as doctored, claiming it was manipulated to discredit him by adversaries whom he accused of ethnic bias.

"It's all manipulation, snippets taken out of context and pieced together. This is typical of certain elements within the Somali community who are unhappy with my political stance," Maalim stated.

In a disjointed defense of his remarks, Maalim argued that his statement was a cautionary response to threats against critical national institutions, drawing comparisons to destabilizing events in other nations like Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

"I was sounding a serious alarm about the dangers of attempting to seize State House and Parliament," Maalim explained. "Similar actions elsewhere have led to catastrophic consequences."

The controversy surrounding Maalim's comments has sparked outrage across Kenya, with demands for legal action against the lawmaker intensifying amidst concerns over the potential repercussions of such rhetoric on national unity and stability.
