Caleb Amisi Endorses Edwin Sifuna for ODM Leadership, Advocates Youthful Revitalization

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has announced that the ODM party is poised for a shift towards youthful leadership. In a statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Amisi endorsed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the successor to Raila Odinga as the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). This change is expected as Raila Odinga plans to step down to focus on his campaign for the African Union Commission chairmanship.

Amisi recommended that Sifuna, who is currently the ODM Secretary General, should assume the role of party leader to represent Raila while he campaigns across multiple African countries. Furthermore, Amisi suggested that Siaya County Governor James Orengo be appointed to lead a Supreme Council of Elders, which would provide advisory support to the party.

According to Amisi, the rejuvenation of Kenya’s leading opposition party, which he refers to as Africa’s largest democratic organization, relies on harnessing the vitality, charisma, enthusiasm, and commitment of its younger members.
