Uasin Gishu Governor Nominates Evans Kapkea as New Deputy Governor

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has selected MCA Evans Kapkea as his nominee for Deputy Governor. Kapkea, the MCA for Tembelio Ward, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Analytical Chemistry from Moi University. This nomination follows the resignation of former Deputy Governor John Barorot, who stepped down to assume a new role at an international ICT firm. Governor Bii has forwarded Mr. Kapkea’s name to the County Assembly for vetting and potential appointment. If approved, Kapkea will succeed Barorot as the Deputy Governor.

Kapkea, currently serves as the Chairperson of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly’s Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, and Investment Committee. He is also a member of the Budget, Finance, and Appropriations Committee, the Health Committee, and the Delegated Legislation Committee.

In addition to this nomination, Governor Bii has announced changes within his administration. Ambrose Kiprotich Tarus has been designated to lead the Administration and Devolution docket, while Naomi Jelagat Tirop will head the Public Service Management department. Other reassigned Chief Officers include Victorine Kapkiyai (Trade, Investments, Industrialization, and Tourism), Nathan Korir (Economic Planning), Geoffrey Tanui (Lands and Physical Planning), Mark Kipkemboi Some (Gender, Social Protection, and Culture), and Eunice Jemutai Suter (Youth and Sports).
