Rift Valley Polytechnic Land Transfer Delays Under Scrutiny

A parliamentary committee chaired by Bumula MP Wamboka Wanami has summoned former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who heads the board of trustees at Rift Valley National Polytechnic, to shed light on the ongoing delays in transferring land held in trust for the institution.Lawmakers are concerned that despite legal changes in 2014 requiring the full transfer of the land to the polytechnic, only 200 acres, have been allocated. This raises questions about the intentions behind the continued retention of the remaining land.

The Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education has vowed to investigate the matter and ensure that the provisions of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Act of 2014 are fully implemented. The committee plans to visit the institution and gather firsthand information to understand the reasons behind the delay in handing over the remaining land.

This development comes as a wake-up call for the relevant authorities to address the issue promptly and ensure that the Rift Valley National Polytechnic receives the full land allocation it is entitled to, enabling it to expand its operations and better serve the needs of its students and the community.
