Raila Odinga Backs Adani Group While Opposition Promises Legal Action

Raila Odinga, the former Prime Minister of Kenya, has expressed his support for the Adani Group, highlighting the company’s proven ability to invest in the country’s logistics and energy sectors. Odinga stressed that there are no valid reasons to criticize the firm and cautioned that unjustified opposition could harm future investments in Kenya.

Drawing from his interactions with Adani during his tenure as Prime Minister, Odinga vouched for the company’s credibility, stating it has the capacity to contribute significantly to Kenya’s development.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders, led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, have taken a different stance. Musyoka reiterated the opposition’s intent to challenge the agreement between the Kenyan government and Adani Group in court, citing concerns about the transparency of the process. He questioned the urgency with which the deals involving Adani and the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) were finalized. Musyoka emphasized that the opposition would continue to fight against the terms of the 30-year energy contract.
