Joseph Siror, Managing Director of KPLC, Explains the National Assembly regarding the power disconnection in Mukuru.

Residents of Mukuru slums have been without electricity for several weeks after Kenya Power removed transformers that supplied power to the area. The transformers served the neighborhoods of Mukuru-Sokoni and Mukuru-Fuata Nyayo in Nairobi South ward, located in Starehe sub-county.

Kenya Power's Managing Director, Joseph Siror, explained before the National Assembly Committee on Energy that the power disconnection was due to significant losses the company incurred from illegal power connections in the region. Engineer Siror mentioned that the company had previously attempted to resolve the issue multiple times, but the illegal activities persisted. As a result, Kenya Power decided to retrieve the transformers to prevent further financial losses.
