Police In Kakamega Arrested For Shooting Tuktuk Driver
A police officer has been arrested for reportedly shooting and injuring a tuk-tuk driver,.
According to Police reports ,Nathan Bett, who was deployed as a court orderly, allegedly shot 28-year-old Derick Chibini twice in the confrontation along Kakamega - Kisumu Road.
He claimed that Derick Chibini who is now nursing inhuries attempting to kidnap him.
The incident was investigated after Nehemiah Kiprono, the police officer in-charge of Kakamega Police Station armory, on Wednesday reported that Bett had returned his pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition.
It was then established that Bett had discharged two rounds of 9mm ammunition during the scuffle between him and the tuk-tuk driver.
In his defence Bett alleged that the tuk-tuk driver refused to stop to allow him to alight at Kakamega Police Station gate after which he suspected that he was upto something.
Chibini sustained two gunshot injuries on the left shoulder and another one penetrating the right collarbone and exiting on the left collarbone.
Nathan Bett is now in custody for attempted murder.
