Mombasa Governor Nassir Questioned Over Alleged Blogger Abduction and Assault

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir was questioned on Thursday afternoon at the Coast Regional Police Headquarters by detectives in relation to the alleged sodomy of a Mombasa blogger. The blogger was abducted from his home in Bamburi Mwisho on the morning of September 12 and taken to a secluded area in Miritini. Nassir has faced intense critisizime since the incident occurred.

According to the blogger, his kidnappers claimed they were taking him to Governor Nassir so he could apologize for a video he posted on social media, in which he insulted the governor and his mother. Nassir and his associate, Mohammed Hussein, also known as Amadoh, are currently under police investigation regarding the incident. So far, four individuals have been charged in connection with the case.

Both Nassir and Amadoh have denied the accusations. The governor condemned the act and distanced himself from the incident, stating that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) should be allowed to conduct a thorough investigation.
