Mixed Reactions As Mudavadi Says JKIA Is Not For Sale

Prime Cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi has corrected the narrative that Jommo Kenyatta International Airport is on the verge of being owned by a private company.

Appearing before members of parliament Mudavadi assured the public that JKIA is a public asset and if were to be sold it would have undergone the due.

“The airport is not on sale. This is a public asset, a strategic asset. If it was going to be sold, you can only do it after a full public process that parliament endorses,” Mudavadi told MPs.

Away from the current public  perception The Prime CS said that instead revealed that  there are plans to modernize the airport and build a new terminal.

“The Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) must look at its investment programme very carefuly, make sure that everything is transparent. So that during the expansion process of the second terminal, let it be done through the legal process so that everybody knows what is going on,” he added.

Yesterday night Kisii Senator Onyoka  joined a list of legislators who have publicly discussed reports on the JKIA take over claiming that the government has handed over the airport ownership to unnamed foreign players.

“We are signing off our airport to be run by a private company for 30 years and after the contract expires, they will keep the equity of our airport at the rate of 18 per cent. Why would anyone sign such an agreement?” posed the senator, citing an unnamed French whistleblower.
Mudavadi's X where he shared a clip of him responding to the allegetations was treated to mixed reactions over his utterances.

We are going there to confirm it ourselves,we are tired with propaganda

Make the deal public!

We are not fools Mudavadi politician words are no longer the king anymore!! We will stop that deal whatever may come!!

So we just believe that and go back home ?

But it’s being sold and an Indian firm will occupy it for 30 years, then be given a piece of the pie for a lifetime. What do you mean it’s not being sold? We mzee huna akili timamu?
