Mandatory School Inspections Ordered by Education CS to Address Safety Concerns
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has mandated a nationwide inspection of schools to ensure compliance with the safety protocols outlined in the Safety Standards directive. The inspections, which will be conducted without prior notice, involve a multi-agency team, including representatives from the Ministries of Education, Interior, and Health, as well as officials from the Public Works, County Governments, and the Kenya Red Cross.
He warned that strict action would be taken against Ministry of Education officials, school administrators, and managers found guilty of disregarding the safety guidelines. The inspections will start this week, focusing initially on all boarding primary and junior schools. A second phase will later cover all secondary schools.
