Conerius Rono, KANU’s digital communications officer, was reportedly abducted on Monday evening in the Fedha area of Embakasi East, Nairobi County. According to the party, Rono was taken while outside a local barber shop he frequently visits.
Many Kenyans believe Rono, who is known for his outspoken commentary on political matters in the country, may have been targeted due to his online presence. In response, KANU has enlisted its legal team to file a report and pursue the case .This incident comes amid a rise in reported kidnappings across Kenya. Human rights organizations have been urging the government to uphold its responsibility to safeguard citizens, pointing out the growing insecurity, various lobby groups have also criticized the government, accusing it of downplaying the numbers related to police brutality and not being transparent about abductions.
