IPOA Investigates Police Assault on Student During Multimedia University Protests

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has opened an investigation into police officers who were filmed assaulting a student during protests at Multimedia University. Early reports indicate that several students were injured in the demonstrations.

IPOA has deployed a rapid response team to the scene to confirm the validity of a video that has been widely shared on social media flatforms, which allegedly shows the assault. The authority has confirmed a student  sustained a foot fracture during the incident.IPOA emphasized that law enforcement must prioritize non-violent measures, using force only when necessary, and ensuring it is proportionate to the situation and resistance faced.
