Four people have been confirmed dead while 7 others are recuperating after consuming a local brew known as ‘kaluvu’ in Kyuso, Mwingi North, Kitui County.

According to local Authorities say the 7 were referred from Kyuso Level 4 Hospital.

Narrating what transpired, survivors who developed severe fever, stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea among other symptoms confirmed their loyalties to the seller noting that they do not get what might have happened this time.

Some supected poisoning as they revealed that the liquor is usually hidden in a bush to save it from raids by security officers

Tuliyefanya kazi naye alienda kuketi chini ya mti akaanza kuniambia anahisi joto sana,” one of the sruvivors recounts. “Nilichukua maji nikamumwagia kichwani.

The area chief Kasyoka Kilonzi who confirmed the incident said the seller is also admitted at the same hospital facility.

The bodies of those who succumbed are lying at Kyuso Level 4 Hospital mortuary.
