Will Ex DP Rigathi Gachagua Be sent Away From UDA?
Troubles facing Rigathi Gachagua could be far from ending following past and latest developments sorrounding his impeachment from his position as Deputy President Of The Republic Of Kenya.
On the onset of allegation about his possible outser acting United Democratic Alliance Secretary General Hassan Omar hinted at plans to expel Gachagua from the party.
“In fact, if that motion of impeachment sails through, our immediate concern then will be to eject him also as a member of the party,” he said sometimes last month.
“You cannot be found to be incompetent, grossly undermining the constitution and national unity and continue to be a ranking member of the party.”
In any case embatlled Gachagua fails to overturn his impeachment through the legal process, Gachagua will be barred permanently from holding elective or public office in his lifetime.
Initailly during Cleophas Malala's tenure as UDA Secretary General , party’s national executive committee amended the constitution and created a single post of deputy party leader, instead of three.
UDA’s Secretary General Cleophas Malalah described the amendment as a significant step to ensure the party leadership command is clear to all its members across the country, as the party continues with its grassroots elections.
“The UDA does not want to undermine the authority of the deputy president within the party,” Malala stated, admitting that having three deputy party leaders had created a rift within the party.He said.
