U.S. Ambassador Challenges Kenyan Government's Allegations Against Ford Foundation.
U.S. Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, has openly disagreed with the Kenyan government's claims that the Ford Foundation was involved in sponsoring recent protests within the country.
Whitman highlighted that the Ford Foundation has a long history of supporting critical groups in Kenya, including civil society organizations that play a crucial role in upholding the country’s democratic values.
The Ambassador revealed that she has already communicated her concerns about these allegations to the Kenyan government, and discussions are underway to address the issue.
Whitman stressed that, in time, the public will recognize that the Ford Foundation had no role in the recent Gen Z protests. She noted that the Ford Foundation, like many other foundations, funds civil organizations, and criticized the government's actions, stating it was inappropriate to target the foundation.
The Ford Foundation has firmly denied the allegations, asserting that their operations have always been conducted with transparency.
