Mike Sonko Believes Salim Swaleh Is Innocent

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has come to the defense of former NTV and Citizen TV Journalist Salim Swaleh.

Sonko through his socials admitted to be knowing the embatlled Journalist and doubted that he could be involved in the alledged scandal.

''I know Salim Swaleh very well. I doubt whether he was involved in the scandal at the prime minister's office. I think kuna Mtu, who's trying to fix him'' Sonko said adding that the truth will un earth.

''Uwongo ni mfupi sana he will soon be vindicated. Wait and see.''

The once sought after Journalist is being linked to a 5.8 Million Scandal that saw his boss Musalia Mudavadi lay him off from his job as Director of the Press Service at the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (OPCS)

Swaleh has been forced to record a heartfelt video asking for forgiveness highlighting challenges he is facing since the scandal surfaced in June 2024

“I have been unable to walk out because of the kind of publicity and the things people said about me just threw me into uncharted territory,”

Swaleh was arrested in June along with other senior officials from the Ministry over allegations related to a Ksh5.8 million scandal.

They were accused of renting out their offices for illegal activities and deceiving victims by switching nametags on doors.

Since his arrest, Swaleh’s salary has been stopped, causing financial difficulties and affecting his ability to pay bills and loans.

In his plea to his ex boss Swaleh asked for his case to be expedited so he can move on with his life.

“I lost everything in a blink of an eye, but most of all, the court process has been draining.

Extortion is rampant, and it’s been nearly nine months with mounting bills and halted salary,” he said crying
