Martha Karua Threatens Legal Action Over Human Rights Violations in Kenya

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua has announced her intention to take the Kenyan government to task over alleged human rights violations during recent anti-government protests. Karua is prepared to escalate the matter to international forums, including the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights and the UN Human Rights Commission.

Karua condemned the government's crackdown on protesters, describing the actions as illegal and a clear abuse of power. She highlighted a pattern of arbitrary arrests, abductions, and extrajudicial killings by the police, which she asserts have gone unpunished. According to Karua, these actions violate both Kenyan law and international human rights standards, and she is determined to hold the government accountable on a global stage.

Karua specifically criticized President William Ruto's administration, accusing it of using fear, intimidation, and the suppression of dissent as tools to stifle opposition. The Narc-Kenya leader also called for an immediate end to the arbitrary arrests and the ongoing disappearances linked to the protests. She pointed out that the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has reported over 50 missing persons since June 25th, questioning their whereabouts and demanding answers.

Karua further criticized the government’s disregard for court orders, particularly concerning the use of lethal force against demonstrators. She reminded authorities that an active court order exists barring such actions and warned that any further violation of the law would not go unchallenged.Karua urged the nation to reflect on the current state of governance and the erosion of constitutional promises.
