Identifying the individual who shot to deah he late Rex Kanyeki Maasai ahs hit a hard rock following the latest updates from the Office of the Directorate Of Public Prosecutions.

The Director Of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga announced that they are facing challenges in  identifying  Rex's shooter since the footage they have did not clearly capture the person well.

With these he is now calling upon individuals who could be key witnesses to finding the killer,he is therefore calling upon them to record a statement with IPOA .

''Key witness who was with Rex Kanyeki Masai when he was shot during anti-gov't protests has not come forward to record statement with IPOA, 

The CCTV footage showing the shooting [of Rex Kanyeki Masai] does not clearly identify the person who pulled the trigger.- I call upon any person with information partainng to this case  especially the witness who took the deceased to hosipital and those who witnessed the shooting to come forward and record the staemmet with IPOA '' The DPP Said

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had given the Independent Police Oversight Authority (Ipoa) 21 days to investigate the shooting of Rex Kanyike Masai, an anti-Finance Bill 2024 protester who was passed away while undergoing t treatment at Bliss Health Care Centre, Moi Avenue.

“Pursuant to the provisions of article 157(4) of the Constitution, the Director of Public Prosecutions has directed the Independent Police Oversight Authority to carry out thorough and comprehensive investigations into the matter,” part of the statement read in part From the office of the DPP.

“Thereafter, the resultant inquiry file together with the report should be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) not later than twenty-one (21) days from the date hereof.”

A post-mortem conducted by chief governenment pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed that  29 yearl old Masai died from excessive bleeding from the gunshot.
