Murkomen Advocates for Public-Private Partnerships to Address Stadium Infrastructure Challenges.

As Kenya gears up to co-host the 2025 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in February with Tanzania and Uganda, the government faces the challenge of quickly enhancing its infrastructure. Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen pointed out that, given the ongoing budgetary limitations, the best strategy for ensuring stadiums meet the required standards is to engage private investors.

Nyayo and Kasarani Stadia will serve as Kenya's venues for the event, with President William Ruto pledging that the facilities will be ready before the tournament's start on February 1, 2025.

Addressing the National Assembly, Murkomen highlighted that the lack of budget allocations for stadium improvements makes Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) the most practical solution. He also noted that the Ministry is reviewing options for collaborating with private stakeholders to construct modern sporting infrastructure.
