High Court Denies Gachagua’s Bid to Halt Impeachment Proceedings for the second time

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has suffered another setback as the High Court, for the second time, refused to issue orders halting his impeachment proceedings. In a petition filed on Monday, October 7, and presented before Justice Bahati Mwamuye, lawyer Malala argued that both the National Assembly and Senate are unconstitutional due to their failure to meet the 2/3 Gender Rule requirement.

However, Justice Mwamuye directed that the case be referred to High Court presiding judge, Justice Chacha Mwita, for further guidance. Meanwhile, the National Assembly has applied to consolidate all petitions challenging Deputy President Gachagua's impeachment process.
