President Ruto Reaffirms Commitment to Affordable Housing and Slum Eradication
President William Ruto has reinforced his government's pledge to eliminate slums and provide Kenyans with quality housing through the Affordable Housing Programme. During a his visit to Kibera, Nairobi County, where he assessed the progress of the Kibera Soweto East Affordable Housing Project, President Ruto emphasized the administration's resolve to ensure all Kenyans have access to adequate housing and essential amenities. He announced that construction for Phase II, which includes an additional 15,000 units, will start before the year ends, while Phase III, consisting of 20,000 units, is slated to begin in January. Additionally, President Ruto disclosed plans to build 40,000 housing units for families displaced from riparian reserves in Nairobi County. The inspection was joined by Lands and Housing Cabinet Secretary Zachary Mwangi Njeru, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, and Lang'ata MP Felix Odiwuor among other people.
