KTN News Closes ,Merges With KTN Home

KTN News, East Africa's first 24 hour news channel has officialy closed it doors and merged with mother station KTN Home.

This just adds on the endless misery that has been following the one time big deal media group,The Standard.

Several former journalists expressed their dissapoinmets while encouraging the huge numbers of now jobless journalists. 

''I'm saddened that KTN News, East Africa’s first 24-hour news channel, has closed and merged with its mother station, KTN Home. This station has shaped many of us. Unfortunately, incompetence tends to breed incompetence, and that's where the problems at KTN News began. Best wishes to all my former colleagues affected by this restructuring.'' Maina Mwangi  wrote on Twitter momet after the news broke.

Another Veteran journalist Linda Ogutu also expressed her displeasure of how things have been unfolding lately in the station.

''Can't even believe it's happening. We toiled to get that station to where it was.''

A few weeks ago atleast 40 people attended a meeting that was held at Green Park Grounds inside Standard Media Group's Mombasa Road headquarters, the employees reportedly resolved to visit every office and remove everyone from their workstations.

In the process, they disrupted a live bulletin hosted by Jesse Rodgers, forcing the news anchor to take a short break at around 1:07 pm after presenting only one news item. The bulletin did not resume after as the employees were demanding all their payments settled in full and arrears cleared.

The protest came a few days after  an earlier version on Thursday, July 4, when radio employees from Radio Maisha, Spice FM, Berur FM, and Vybez Radio downed tools due to salary arrears dating back to June 2023.
