23 Pupils Left in Limbo After Fake KPSEA Exam Discovered at Unregistered School
The future of 23 students who recently sat for a counterfeit Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) exam remains uncertain. It's deeply concerning that, in this day and age, such deceit could be directed at young, innocent pupils. The KPSEA exam comprises five subjects: Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Integrated Science, and Social Studies and Creative Arts.
During a surprise raid on Silver Bells Academy, educational and security officials arrested the school directors, as the unsuspecting students were engaged in the exam. Uasin Gishu County Director of Education, Gitonga Thiringi, confirmed the arrests, explaining that the school was not registered as an examination center and lacked official registration with the Kenya Examination Council.
The arrests followed a tip-off from a concerned parent questioning the exam's legitimacy. The suspects are currently held at Chepkanga police post in Moiben sub-county, where parents are also giving statements. The Uasin Gishu County Commissioner has instructed the Department of Education and security agencies to take swift action against those responsible and investigate how the school operated without proper registration.
